From Whence Cometh the Zodiac? (good KJV language)

Someone from the ancient world  must have devised the zodiac. Perhaps it had been created even before the introduction of writing. The possible date for the flood, 9,700 BC is well before the introduction of writing. One the twelve constellations that make up the zodiac, Aquarius, the water bearer, is actually alluding to the flood. Perhaps the entire zodiac had been devised to tell the story of the flood/cataclysm shortly after it had taken place.

Since there was no writing during that early epoch, an entirely new method of communication would have been needed. It may have not only been new; but, it would have needed to be a form of communication that could be read and understood by those who followed generations later.  It would have needed to be a way that could not be erased or altered by those who had trouble believing it the way it had initially been told. Because the flood had been initiated by something from the heavens, perhaps telling about it in the heavens was a good choice.

It has never been possible to determine just who devised the zodiac. The ancient Egyptians have been suggested. The only thing certain is that it had come about before the introduction of writing.  The ancient Messoamericans and the Chinese had also devised their own Zodiacs, seemingly at a similar time. Was everyone thinking along similar lines? Why would three distinct and widely separated cultures have undertaken such a unique method of communication all at about the same time? Why would they have done that? How many people, today, even care about the Zodiac? What do you think?

Far more information is encoded in the zodiac than I will go into here. The amount of information covered is so great that it may have gone well beyond what simple man could have come up with on his own. The extreme complexity of all that is included just might be an indication of the source. Perhaps it had been a direct revelation from the Lord. Whatever else, the flood had been the most serious event that happened on the earth during the existence of mankind and survivors were not about to leave the story untold.

When one looks at illustrations of the constellations, only a few stars make up each constellation. The pictures drawn around those few stars are quite complex and viewers would never have understood the entire picture being presented when looking only at the very few stars that made up an entire constellation. Why was such an elaborate drawing concocted when there is no readily apparent reason for it? I think the ancients were telling us that there was a lot going on in the heavens.

There surely was. The zodiac tells the story very well. Not only that, but, it will never end up on a closeout table selling for a few cents on the dollar. It will remain as the publishers “A” list for millennia. It will last as long as the heavens are in place. It is deserving of a much closer look.
